User Guide
This tool divides the CO2 emitted at conferences and events into seven categories and calculates based on the input of simple information.
You can see the final calculation results in a graph and download them.
You can save your progress data and results calculations by setting an ID and password.
In addition, we offer step-by-step tips on reducing environmental impact in the operation of conferences and events.
* No email address is registered in association with an ID and password.
Users should record and store their ID/password. See 「Save progress function」 for details.

Step 1 Fill in basic information
Fill in basic information such as the name, dates, no. of participants of the conference or event.
Once you have filled in all the information, click 【Next】 at the bottom right of the page.

Step 2 Fill in energy consumed
Fill in the amount of energy consumed at the venue.
- If you have the data on energy consumed, select 【Direct input of energy consumed】 and fill in the relevant categories.
- If you don’t have the details of energy consumed, click 【Input venue area and estimate】 and input the total area of the venue used during the event.

Step 3 Fill in travel
Fill in information about travel during the conference or event.
Select from 【Travel from outside of Japan】, 【Travel from Japan】, 【Travel during the event】.
* Travel arranged by the organiser:
Calculates the amount of CO2 emitted by means of transport arranged by the organiser for group or VIP/presenter travel related to official events during the conference or event.

For 【Travel from outside of Japan】, fill in the number of people from each region of departure. If you have filled in 【No. of participants from outside of Japan】 in Step 1, 「No. of participants (from outside of Japan)」 will automatically be displayed in the grey box.
An error message will be displayed if the total no. of people from each region of departure exceeds 「No. of participants (from outside of Japan)」.

For 【Travel from Japan】, if you filled in 【No. of participants from Japan】 in Step 1, the number of participants from Japan will automatically be displayed, so please fill in the percentage of participants from the Kanto region.

For 【Travel during the event】, put a tick beside the method of travel arranged by the organiser and fill in the relevant number of vehicles and the distance travelled by each one.
E.g. The organiser arranged 10 buses to take people from the venue to dinner and back again.
One way 5km × 10 buses (diesel) ⇒ fill in 10 buses (diesel) × 10km
E.g. The organiser arranged 10 chartered cars to take VIPs and presenters from the hotel to the venue and back again.
One way 3km × 10 chartered cars (LPG) ⇒ fill in 10 chartered cars (LPG) × 6km
* If there are multiple destinations with different distances, fill in average distance and number of vehicles.

Step 4 Fill in accommodation
Fill in accommodation for participants, etc. including operations staff.
- If you have the total accommodation for participants, etc., 【Total accommodation numbers】, fill in the number.
- If you don’t have the total accommodation for participants, etc. 【Total accommodation numbers】, select 【Estimate using percentage of participants by region】.

Step 5 Fill in goods purchases/rentals/services
Fill in the amounts for categories procured by the organisers for operation.
For the seven categories: 【Equipment】【Printed materials】【Signs】【Promotional goods/office supplies, etc.】【Exhibit-related (organiser’s share only)】【Communications, delivery, postage】【Staff/personnel】, fill in amounts in thousands of yen.

Step 6 Fill in catering
Fill in information related to catering arranged by the organizer.
Select the relevant category from 【Lunch】, 【Dinner】, 【Coffee break】 and fill in the number of meals for each relevant category.

For 【Lunch】 and 【Dinner】, fill in the total number of meals during the event depending on whether they were 【Menu with meat】 or 【Vegetarian menu】. For 【Dinner】, fill in the number of meals according to whether they were served with alcohol or not.


For 【Coffee break】, fill in no. of coffees (cups), etc. provided.

Step 7 Fill in waste
Fill in costs for processing and recycling waste.
Items that will not be used again are processed as industrial waste 【Waste disposal fees】 and items that are recycled such as carpets or wood are recycled 【Recycling processing fees】. Fill in the relevant categories in thousands of yen

Calculate results
This page displays the results calculated for the information you filled in in Steps 1 – 7.
Total emissions are displayed in graphs of emissions per participant and a breakdown of emissions.
If you would like to save your progress so far, click the button at the top right.

You can download the calculation results in PDF format.

Save progress function
If you can’t fill in all the information in one go, use the 【Save progress function】 displayed to the right of the screen.
If you click the green button 【Save progress】 at the top of the input page, you will be transferred to the ID registration screen to create an account.


Enter an ID with at least 6 alphanumeric characters and click "Register and Save ID." A password will be generated automatically. You will need the ID you registered and this password the next time you use the calculator, so please keep this information in a safe place.

The next time you use the calculator, click either the 【Enter login ID and password】 button at the top of the Top page or the 【Continue from where you left off】 button on the right-hand side of the calculation page to show the login screen and use your ID and password to log in.



Once you have logged in, you will see a blue 【Save】 button. Please use this before you leave the page again.


If you would like to do calculations for multiple events, click the 【Save new】button to go to the account registration page. You can register a new account so please go through the same registration process again.
